Varnish is a content caching platform, which is occasionally called an HTTP reverse proxy. It is a web application accelerator tool that can accelerate the loading speed of a site by up to 1000%, based on the content itself. Each time a visitor accesses any page on a site that uses Varnish, the platform caches the page and delivers it instead of the web server in case the visitor opens it again. In this way, the browser request from the visitor is not handled by the server and the web page will load considerably faster, as the Varnish platform can serve content many times faster than any web server software. The result is a substantially faster loading site, which leads to an immensely improved visitor experience. If any of the cached pages is updated on the actual website, the information that Varnish stores in its system memory is ‘refreshed’ as well, so the website visitors will never end up seeing outdated content.

Varnish in Hosting

In case you host your Internet sites in a hosting account with us, you’ll be able to add Varnish with a few mouse clicks from your Control Panel. The content caching platform is offered as an upgrade with all our shared hosting plans and you can select the number of the sites that will use it and the total storage space that will be used for the cached data. The two upgradeable features in the Upgrades section of the Control Panel are the number of instances and the amount of memory and they aren’t linked directly to each other, so you can decide whether you need plenty of memory for a single large-sized website or less memory for several smaller ones. You can take advantage of the full potential of the Varnish platform in case the websites use a dedicated IP address. With the Control Panel, you can quickly start/reboot/disable an instance, delete the cached data individually for each site which employs Varnish or see an exhaustive system log file.

Varnish in Semi-dedicated Servers

Varnish is a feature, which is included by default with all Linux semi-dedicated hosting service that we offer and you can use it for load balancing purposes. It is available in your Hepsia Control Panel. The data caching platform comes with 64 MB of system memory for cached data storing purposes and you can use it with any website that you host in the account. In case you’re in need of more than that, you can increase the memory quota. The memory itself is available in increments of 32 MB in the Upgrades section of the Control Panel. The same Upgrades section will permit you to add more instances too, in case you’d like to use the Varnish caching platform with more sites. The two upgrades can be ordered separately – you can cache the content of one single resource-hungry website or run several different Internet sites with the default memory. You can take full advantage of Varnish in case you use a dedicated IP and you can order one with your semi-dedicated plan as well. The Hepsia Control Panel will give you full control over the platform and, with no more than one single click of the mouse, you’ll be able to delete the cached files, to check a log file or to restart an instance.

Varnish in VPS Servers

You can use Varnish with each of our VPS server plans at no additional cost, since the content caching platform is pre-installed and is included by default. The sole precondition is that the server must be ordered with the Hepsia Control Panel, through which you’ll be able to set up Varnish for any of your Internet sites with only a couple of clicks of the mouse. Each package offers a different amount of memory for caching purposes, but you will get at least several hundred megabytes, which is sufficient enough even for multiple large-sized Internet sites. Shortly after you activate the Varnish platform, it’ll start caching the content that your website visitors request, so you’ll notice the significantly better site load times and the decreased load in no time. The caching platform will permit you to use a less costly Virtual Private Server, since you will not need that much power to guarantee the proper operation of your sites even if you run large-size Internet sites with lots of visitors. Maximum results are achieved if the sites that use the Varnish caching platform use also a dedicated IP address.

Varnish in Dedicated Servers

If you order a dedicated server with the Hepsia Control Panel, you will acquire the Varnish content caching platform at no additional cost and you will have full control over it via a pretty easy-to-use GUI – you will be able to start, to delete or to reboot an instance, to see an in-depth log, to clear the cached data for any Internet site and much more. The Varnish platform will have several GB of memory at its disposal, so even if you have traffic-consuming sites with a vast number of visitors, you’ll notice the considerably faster site load times and the reduced load on the dedicated machine. This will happen soon after you start using Varnish, as it will require a certain amount of time to cache the pages that people request. You can make the most of the platform’s capacity in case the sites that are using it use also a dedicated IP, but considering the fact that your server comes with a couple of IP addresses by default, you won’t have to pay anything on top of your monthly fee for the machine itself.
